I just got my 1730 today and it's quite awesome. However upon downloading hwmonitor, it seems my temps usually hover around mid 60s and go to 75s quite often making the fans come on. Is this normal? And I live in the bay area pretty close to San Francisco, so the weather here is usually pretty cool. I think it was in the upper 50s low 60s today while monitoring temps.

65c-75c is my idle range, but in games it cools down a lot when the fans stay on longer. I was a little worried at first, but this is the norm it seems.

I applied AS5 to my gpus while I had it apart. Gonna see how this affects the gpu temps.
You can use Rivatuner to put the gpu temps in the logitech lcd, quite handy while playing games.

Yea, I noticed upon first firing up the computer, I could see the cpu/ram usage in the lcd, but after formatting and installing windows 7, it's no longer there and I have no idea how to get it back.

And you said you can get rivatuner to display the temps in the lcd? How did you do that? Windows 7 keeps whining about some not digitially signed drivers and whatnots. (I think my problem lies in the os)

To use Rivatuner in x64 you have to disable driver signing before you boot into windows, tap F8 after bios flash, and select disable driver signing.

And you should check out Batboy's M1730 page, he has all the latest drivers in one place. http://xpsm1730.blogspot.com/

m1730 runs pretty hot playin games, therefore a cooler is needed for intensive tasks.

Depends. My 8800s don't go over 70*C while gaming without a cooler. My idling range is around in the 50s. Sometimes 45*C if in an air conditioned room with powermizers all disabled.

It seems that when running rivatuner for the first time with the f8 digitally signed enforcement off, it still says some particular driver won't work. In any case, supposing all went well, how do you tell the gaming lcd to read stats from rivatuner?

http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=81852  This covers set up, and how to display on screen, but the newest version has the option to use the lcd instead of on screen. You should see it in the settings.

Hmm, it seems the problem lies within the rivatuner64.sys file. I did a quick google and it seems vista 64bit and win7 64 bit people are boned in this matter since Microsoft wants $500 a year for you to use unsigned drivers and whatnots. I did try the f8 at boot up to force the signed drivers to be turned off, but upon getting into windows again.....same problem.

My GPUs on my new M1730 also idle around 70 C and hit 80 C while gaming. According to Gophn's post here, this isn't in the danger zone. My HDD and CPU temps are fine.

One issue I do have is that the panel above the keyboard gets INSANELY hot. I have the back of the computer lifted up a little (the equivalent of bottle caps) to help with airflow, but it got so hot that when I closed my lid after a gaming session (which, in hindsight, I should not have done), it melted the glue off of one of the little plastic caps near the bottom of my screen and left a stain. Does this sound like something that should have happened? I mean, if it's a case of, "Hey, stupid, you might not want to close the lid after a couple hours of gaming", then my bad and lesson learned. BUT if it is a case of, "Dude, you need to get a cooler" or "Um, something is wrong with your rig", then could somebody weigh in and let me know if I have a real problem with my machine? Thanks!
