    Hey everyone,

Recently I have been having some problems with my slot-load drive (TEAC DVW-28SLC). It has been coastering a lot of DVD-DL disks lately and overall it is very slow. I have been reading that they are putting faster drives in the newer M1530's. After a long battle with XPS support, I convinced them to replace the drive. Do you think I will get one of the faster drives or will I be stuck with the same drive? I really don't use it all that much, but when I do want to use it, it is a major pain, especially when it coasters expensive DL-DVD's. Any thoughts would be really helpful.

i think you got a defective teac drive. I have the same exact one installed in my system and its really fast. The only thing i dont like about it is when you boot up the machine it makes a slight sound (kinda like its ejecting a cd.)

but if i were you id just look forward to getting a new drive and maybe (or not) getting a faster one will be the sugar on top. :D

    Im running A12.

Your's is fast? Mine only burns DL-DVD's at 2.4x, which takes about 45 minutes to an hour to burn a full disk. I've been reading that they are now putting 8x DVD-DL burners in the machines.

Originally it was A08.. but as I said before, BIOS updates have no effect on the performance of your dvd drive.
