    New XPS m1530. Web Cam only displays black. HELP!

    I just got a new 1530 last night. I installed vista 32bit ultimate and installed the updated camera driver and software directly from Dell website.

    I can use the software and hear the noises when I take pictures. I can even record a video and hear the sound during playback but no matter what the screen is black.

    Any ideas? I called tech support and they told me to download drivers directly from Creative. I have no idea what model webcam this is to download the drivers. Can anyone help?

    If you properly installed the driver then you should have DELL Webcam console in the start menu. Launch it and check the brightness.

    Hey, thanks. I had the exact same problem with the exact same laptop. I never would have htought about checking the brightness.
