Primarily for photoediting CS5, Corel Draw. My old laptop, Inspiron 6000 15" had a 1680 x 1050 WSXGA + LCD screen, it was great. I want something similiar in the new laptop. Looking at the XPS 15, i5 with the FHD 1080p B+RGLED. Is this my best bet or will the 720p to be equal to the old Inspiron?

720p will be a huge downgrade from your old screen.

Yeah, 720p is a BIG downgrade. You'll really want to go with the 1080p screen. It looks amazing.

My photo site fans admitted improvement in my photo editing skills right after I switched to this 1080p. And they didn't know about the upgrade - so it's not coincidence B-)

Thanks! Why off-topic? We help topic starter to approach a wise decision - stick to the 1080p! B-)

720p is a 1366x768 resolution. Compared to your 1680x1050 resolution, that's a big downgrade. You should definitely go with 1080p.

    Yeah you're right :)
I think if Dell gives you the chance to get such a premium screen why not take it? Go for the 1080p screen. It's a steal for 130$
