First of all I gotta mention that text is very readable on this screen, the text is not near as small as I thought it would be. I have no trouble reading text at all on it.

Also I gotta say that 1920x1200 is not that much bigger then 1680x1050 on my desktop monitor. You gain a little bit of space, but not much.

The screen looks great though, the colors really pop out at you and the glossy cover is not too shiny, it's just right.

Most games made in 2005 or older run fine at 1920x1200, and even some newer games do. Your not gonna be playing Crysis at 1920x1200 though, forget it.

It is a Samsung screen, and my desktop LCD monitor (a Dell 2005FPW) has a LG panel inside. I have to say this panel in my laptop is far superior. To be fair, it's 3 years newer as well, so technology probably has improved.

Also with Wi-Fi on and this screen at 3/4 brightness I was able to get 4 hours of battery life out of the 9 cell. I was mostly surfing the internet and checking emails during the 4 hours. I also had Xfire open and logged in the whole time. 4 hours is pretty impressive with Wi-Fi on.

You had some good information here. I was curious as I'm going to be getting the 1920x1200 screen (ordered...just waiting for the computer now). Nice to hear that it looks good.

    Repped.

Although my XPS M1730 had to go thru a few screen replacements, I eventually ended up with a very nice looking Samsung 17" 1920x1200 display. Text is still very readable, and I am able to play UT3 at max settings and native res. :D

I can play Counter Strike Source, Half Life 2, Battlefield 2, Portal, Civilization II, Spore Character Creator, and Sim City: Societies all at 1920x1200. Source engine games like Half Life 2 and Counter Strike Source I can play fully maxed out at 1920x1200 with some AA and max AF.

I also just got an XPS 1530 with a WUXGA screen, and although I was a bit concerned about it going in, actually using the thing is great! I have no trouble reading text at all, and the extra real estate is extremely nice.
