Does anybody have the part number for that XPS branded sleeve? I spent about 3 hours with customer support and no one knows what heck I was talking about. It isn't available on the dell.com website either.

Some, not all. Blanket statements such as this are pretty useless.

The same sleeve (except larger) comes with the m1530.....maybe use that to help the Dell rep figure out what you're talking about.

If all else fails, see if someone can post a pic of their sleeve and point the rep to that.

I can post pics of the sleeve that came with my m1330, if you think it will help.

It is black with a silver border. There is a flap that is magnetic and allows it to close.

Thanks for the pictures but unfortunately the Dell rep said she cannot send me one without a part number/ item number.

Does dell list it under the order details for your laptop? For some reason mine wasnt.

Thats true. Not all are dull. I talked to someone who was pretty helpful today. Some are dull, some are *******s and some are very nice. Just like any other person in this world.

Don't let them give you that BS that they need an item number. Ask to speak with the manager for that section.

you can't order it, it simply comes "stock" with every M1330. Customer Support should know this, though!

Harder to understand is how someone managed to place the notebook in the shiping carton without noticing that the sleeve is missing! After all, it's not like a user guide which simply gets tossed in the carton, the M1330 comes shipped within the sleeve... :p

sounds like a Monday assembly to me (my car was assembled on a Monday :( ) - make sure everything else's ok with your M1330!

Yea, im pretty sure its a monday assembly. Look at the user manual they sent me, its not even in English!!

EDIT: A dell representative told me that they ran out of user manuals so they just put user manuals from different languages in the box. I happened to receive a Polish version.

    Thanks Dell

Yea I spoke with the supervisors and they all referred me to another department.

This is turning into a nightmare.

What I have learned is that the laptop sleeve does not have a part number. Its just like the leather XPS CD Case or cleaning cloth. And without a part number, these representatives cant place an order.

But I just got off the phone with the best Dell Rep ever. He's a fellow XPS owner and fully understood my problem. He even sat with me on the other line as he transferred me to a different department to personally speak with the other reps. Listening to him comment on that crappy Dell Phone support music that we had to listen to for 15 mins really made my day :p . Unfortunately he wasn't able to order it because the item isnt located in their systems but I appreciated that he went out on a limb to help me.

Yea some very few are SMART and understand, most of them are stupid, if I were you I keep calling & calling till I got it. Thats the only way I got my free vista dvd when they were doing it early this year.

I love it when you get someone working at a call centre who goes out of their way to help, or is generally nice and talkative.

Does the laptop really need a user manual? I can understand if there were no symbols on any of the buttons or something stupid like that.

yea the user manual isnt that important but that notebook sleeve is.

A dell rep gave me a item number to this case:
    http://accessories.dell.com/sna/pro...l.aspx?c=ca&l=en&s=dhs&cs=cadhs1&sku=310-9253

Is that the same sleeve that they include with XPS notebooks? It might not be though since it is labeled as a case not a sleeve.

For some reason that case is only available on the Dell Canada website not the US one.

I don't think it is the same. The sleeve is just a sleeve....no other compartments or strap. It sounds like what they are sending you is a case. If you google the name of it under images, you can see a few pictures.

Looks to me like you got a better deal. Good thing that you didn't get a sleeve, becuase the case looks nicer :)

Actually, I reached another Dead End. The guys at customer care can't even order that damn case because that item number is not located on the Dell US website and Dell Canada does not ship into the US. So I'm back to step one.

My laptop arrived wrapped around a plastic bag.

All the Dell reps told me that the Sleeve was simply a "promotional" item which was only included with the first few system. This was simply not true but everytime I told them this they just put me on hold or send me to another god damn department.
