my favourite laptop choosen through reviews and suggestions just died because of faulty GPU after 1year. The most cost effective system i ever owned . i spent over $1000 to get the "Best bang for buck" system. Thank you NVIDIA, i dont have words to thank them.

    Mate, that sucks :(

It will still be under warranty though, call Dell.
Dell give an extra year on the GPU because of this problem

Ask Dell for a replacement. GPU warranty was extended. Since they don't sell the m1530 anymore you might actually get an upgrade!

Yeah Dell issued a 1 year extended warranty (on top of the one you bought) for the Stupid NVIDIA GPU issue. Call them up. Hell you may get an SXPS model since I think they do not sell the M1530 anymore.

I bought an XPS M1530 in May to replace my Latitude D620. I must say I have regretted it ever since, the build quality isn't a patch on the Latitude range.

I want to buy an E6400 instead - so let me know if you wanna buy a 3 month old XPS M1530 with T8300 processor, 4GB RAM, 320GB 7200 HDD and 64Bit Vista Home Premium.

They may not make them anymore but I bet they still have parts - so it's likely they would replace the motherboard

Does this extended warranty include Australia? Because we just paid for an extension of the warranty for a tech to fix my brothers XPS1530

It has cooked itself, and won't power on.

The laptop is about 4 months out of warranty.

The warranty extension is worldwide. Every system sold by dell with a faulty GPU is covered.

EDIT: Here is a link to see Dell's response to the issue..

Sorry to ask but what were the signs before the m1530 died? Like did it do the weird vertical lines and funny colours? Or just one day it's gone? As for right now, I'm past my one year warranty, but not my GPU extended warranty. I think it's gonna go in a puff of smoke soon though.

Contact Dell. As others suggested you are covered under the Nvidia extended 1 year warranty. Dell will fix this for you.

You will get it repaired properly. My GPU just failed on me several weeks ago (2nd GPU in 1.5 years of ownership). And, it was replaced (along with many other things). Things seem to be working fairly well now. But, I am monitoring the temps, very closely. Next problem...replacement.

I wish they would have replaced my 1530, but there weren't any available with an LG screen and they said mine was already gone. I loved it that system, it's a shame the GPU crapped out on us.

What'd they do for you instead jb1007?

@Cin' I'm getting 58C with max at 61C so far after 20 minutes when I booted up. I have the battery out with the laptop propped up on an old HDD. It's actually lower now that I'm running Win7 than when I was with Vista.

HWMonitor shows 73, with a range of 68 to 74 as I'm typing here in FireFox and dual monitors (one FF, one HW Monitor).

    Are those temps typical?

I have had my motherboard replaced three times already. The onsite technician and I are practically friends by this point.

I wonder if I'll get a refund when my GPU dies, replacing the motherboard for a discontinued item must have a limit at some point.

Using dual monitors, my temps do go out, but not to your range, Samuel. I would say 73 is a bit high, I'm at 61C currently, and still hitting the high 50s as well. Even when I'm streaming on FF it's at 63C max.
