    Hi everyone, I was wondering and maybe even hoping if it's possible to upgrade (meaning manual extraction and installation) to a Montevina Nehala processor if you currently have an xps in say a Penryn. How much would a lone Montevina cost in August if this was possible?

    I hate the speed of technology :mad: Cant buy anything without it being obsolete in 6 months

    Montevina uses Socket B, Santa Rosa uses Socket P. Nehalem (what you called Nehala) is not part of Montevina, it comes next summer for notebooks.

    No, you can not. You either have to wait and buy the next technology when it comes out, or you buy now and enjoy good prices and a very decent notebook.

    You know, I can't stand these threads. Not that I mind the question, but minor research on Google would have yielded the results that the OP sought. More importantly, I wouldn't have clicked on the thread thinking that it was new info on the impending Montevina release. At least give your threads an appropriate title if you are asking a question rather than sticking an exclamation mark at the end.

    Sheesh.

    People are really getting confused over this PLATFORM/PROCESSOR naming scheme.

    We should make a sticky, or a message on the banner of NotebookReview that says:

    Penryn = Processor
    Nehalem = Processor
    Montevina = Not a Processor!
