    Hi Guys,

Got my studio xps 16 yesterday, love it but have an issue. In call of duty 4 i can only seem to get a limited number of resolutions even if i change the aspect ratio from 4:3, 16:9 etc. For example i have no resolution in between 1280*1024 and 1920*1080. Need a 1600*1200 option. Changing the aspect ratio in l4d gave me more options but this fix doesnt work in cod 4. Any one have any ideas?

    Cheers

Do you have a 16:9 screen , as some games do not support all resolutions as they were made when only 4:3 and 16:10 screen were available, see if there are any updates available for COD4

Use the Mobility Modder to install the drivers from ATI to get a few more resolutions. You still won't get 1600x1200 but I don't know why you would want that resolution on a 16:9 screen. 1600x900 would be the ideal but the closest you will get is 1680x1050.

Assuming you have the 4670 ATI gfx card, do a right click on your desktop and open Catalyst Control Center, go to Notebook Panel Properties, and choose the option "Preserve Aspect Ratio".

    See if that works.

Why does using Mobility modder do things different?

I went to the ATi site and downloaded the latest catalyst drivers for the Mobility 400 series....

What drivers do you use with Mobility modder?

With the mobility modder you use the desktop 4600 series drivers, assuming you have a ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4670.

Between the Dell driver and ATI's? If that's what your asking, ATI's are the most current which will make for better game compatibility and they offer more available resolutions.

Yea, I meant between the latest Mobility drivers and desktop drivers. Surely they are the same version. What's different between them? Are they the best drivers to install?

I hope your not using the ol 169.03 drivers from like 10yrs ago. You need to update that card of yours.
