    Just for giggles, what is the maximum ram I can install on my M1530 with Vista x64? And any difference in performance?

    The motherboard is capped at 4 GB. You can use x64 and then you get the full 4 GB for ram.

    4GB.

    The sweet spot for price-to-performance ratio is 2gb of RAM though, maybe 3.

    Thanks for the inputs everyone. I was beginning to wonder how come there was no such thing as a new M1530 w/ 8GB ram. :)

    Waste, to be honest.

    Maybe on a work desktop in which you had a ton of applications open on, but on a laptop it's not practical nor realistic to use, rather even NEED 8GB of RAM.

    .....Yet. ;)

    Ram is a crazy thing. I'm young and I remember when the family got 512 mb of ram and it was blazing fast. Of course many people on here remember kilobyte ram.

    I got 4gb and meh, I don't know if I "use" it really, 2-3gb could have done, but I got a free 2gb -> 4gb upgrade

    I have 4 GB of ram and am only using a 32-bit OS, and I get plenty of grief for the wasted half-gig from my friends. But it is so worth it for the bragging rights. As would be 8-gigs. Except I would for sure install a 64-bit. Even still, although you'd never have enough applications open to use close to that, imagine the fun it would be to brag about!!
