I have a XPS m5130 and I recently installed Vista x64 and pretty much every thing works flawlessly, even better than 32 bit.

Except, this has happend three times now, when when i boot up, after the bios screen all i see is a blinking "|"

Each time I have had to boot in with Vista recovery disk, and go into bootrec.exe in the command prompt and repair the mbr.

Any thoughts or suggestions as to why this is happening?

    Thanks

Bad harddrive, bad sectors, virus, other malware. Have you tried reinstalling? Fully format the drive first?

    hi
Install Acronis Disk director suite, and try fixing your MBR with it. also scan for any partition errors, if you have any problem with partition, acronis disk director will helps to fix it without any data loss. hope it solves your problem. :)
