Anyone know when Dell plan to have better graphic cards on m1730 (UK)? They used to be 9800 M GT SLI options, but now its a poor 8700 SLI options available (it was good once, but now its nearly 2010!).

I heard it had something to do with them running out - but can we be looking in the near future of this system being upgraded? Because I think it was a nice system, now it isn't even worth buying at all. If I am going to have 10lb laptop, I would want it to be a beast -_-...

Sadly the answer to this is almost certainly 'No'. The XPS M1730 is 'end of life' in the USA and I doubt it will remain on the UK site for much longer. Last time I spoke with a Dell rep concerning the M1730 he mentioned that there was a 'surplus' of M1730 system/parts in the UK. This is most likely why its still on site.

The M1730 was a nice system during its time. Its aging build is no longer current and there are several better options out there. Some may cost more, but personally, I would rather invest in a current model than one that has 2 year old technology.

The m17x is a total rip off in the UK though - starts at around £1800 for a poor processor and only a Nvidia 260 , at least the m1730 - not too long ago - was going for around £1400, for 9800x2, 2.5 C2D, Blu-ray, 6GB RAM etc etc in the UK after discounts (I guess this is where the shifting occured ;), too bad they ran out of the 9800's :().
