I have had my M1710 for almost 3 years now. My laptop display already had a problem with dots which i asked help for in this thread: M1710 screen replacement ... Hey guys,My M1710 is 2.5 yrs old now but is still working fine for me. The only problem is is my LCD screen has some problem and ...

Since I didn't want to spend any money on repairing it, I was using an external monitor and everything was fine until today.

While playing a game, it stopped and it showed purplish lines for a second and after a minute of blank screen I got BSOD which wasn't clearly visible. It showed some n..... driver was at fault and it paged/copied something to my harddrive and then it shut down.

Now when i power it up, I can see the CPU light working and laptop display lit up probably as i can see white from the bottom of screen but nothing on display nor on the external one when i press Fn+F8. The cpu seems to processing as if booting but both the fans are not powering up as well.

I did some search and i can't figure out what the problem is. Is it gpu needing to be baked :p or mobo failure?

    Please help me

Edit: forgot to add the laptop wasn't very hot when this happened. It used to get way hotter before when I used to overclock very high.

I'd second GPU failure. If you aren't getting a picture on an external display, it's even more likely. You can indeed try to bake your GPU, but I've found that baking doesn't seem to work as well on GPUs not soldered to motherboard. Though maybe I'm just doin' it wrong.

    Hey guys.

After researching for some time, i figured it must be the gpu and I thought of baking it as i had nothing to lose even if didn't work.

Amazing it worked and am writing this from my laptop. Thanks to everyone.
