M1710 Owners:
Can anyone provide feedback on dock/port replicator options? I'm interested in going with a Dell dock - not really that funky Kensignton USB.
Which Dell models are compatible with the M1710? Thanks for any input!

I don't understand the need for docking these days. Given that modern laptops do not need a "docked" harddrive, network, or whatever else, with the wireless network these days, the only "docking" you'd do is plugging in the power.
How about buying an extra power supply, leaving the plug handy and ready to plug in when you set down the laptop onto the desk, no need for any "docking" any longer, not these days... -
Dell has several docking stations (port replicators).
D/Dock and D/Port Docking Stations
D/View Docking Stand
C/Dock, C/Port, and Inspiron APR
Kensington USB Multi-Function Port Replicator and Stand
Targus USB Port Replicator
However, the only one that will currently work with any XPS system would be the kinsington one.
The D/dock is used for Latitudes, The C/dock is used for latitudes and a few inspiron systems and the targus model is only used for a very few inspiron models. -
Well, the bottom of the M1710 has a D/Dock D/Port style port...
Any actual M1710 owners have one of these? Nick?? I remember you mentioning you were using a Dell branded port/dock -- which one was it?
Thanks.
