OK, I got my laptop 2 weeks ago, with a 2.0 GHz duo core, 2GB RAM, 8600M GT, 250GB (5400 rpm) HD and running Vista and all was well.

Then I installed Crysis on it on Saturday and was playing it, had it running on medium specs and things were good. Then all of a sudden the laptop turned itself off as if there had been a power cut, and I haven't been able to turn it back on since.

The battery adapter was plugged in at the time, so it's not the battery going flat, and I've got no idea what's wrong so was hoping I could get some ideas before I phoned technical services after work tonight.

    Sounds odd
    Try the usual things,
batt out then put back in
Check your fuse in your PSU
Hold down power button for few seconds
Other than that cant really offer much more help
    sorry

If you have sound playing, must be a display driver problem, update your card to 169.xx,

If not, just do what MadeiraG said,
press the power button for a few seconds so it "shuts down", then wait a couple of minutes... (if the machine has to cool down), and then try starting it again.

Unplug it from the outlet, and remove the battery. Hold the power button for a few, then put the battery and power plug back in and try again.

If this doesnt work your going to have to get it replaced...thank god for warranties!

There's no burnt odour, the only way you'd know there was anything wrong with it is the fact it doesn't turn on. The power button lights up blue, but nothing boots up.

I tried nizzy's idea, but it didn't work either. :(

What's the number everyone uses to phone Dell in the UK? I've tried 3 numbers now and none of them have even rang, let alone had anyone answer them. They just dial and then nothing happens. It's like the numbers don't exist, even though I got them off the website.
