Hello, I have a new M1530, and I noticed some wierd temps. Can someone tell me if this is normal. Thank you very much.

    Specs:
    M1530
    Windows XP SP3
    T8100 Stock clock speed/voltage
Nvidia 8600M GT Stock Speed (with non high-lead solder)
    3 GB Ram
120 GB seagate 7200 RPM HDD (not affected by new flash firmware)
    9 Cell Lifting back battery
Everest used for CPU test and Temp Readings
3dMark06 used for GPU test, standard test.
    A12 Bios
Dell 174 Driver (LV2G makes my temps a lot higher in the past)

    Idle:
    CPU: 39-50c
    GPU: 58-69c

Temperatures Cycle every 5-15 minutes with fan Kicking on.

    CPU stress test:
CPU: 56c Max Each core, 58c main CPU sensor
    GPU: 62c

    GPU stress test:
CPU: 61c per core max, 66c main sensor
GPU: 76c Max (dropped to 60 a few seconds after test)

I was eyeing those, I will try them out. Thanks for all the help, it seems unfortunate that we have such a high amount of temp fluctuations.

What exactly do you mean by idle?

If it means you are just browsing and such, then I think the GPU will anyway go through the cycles, since it has to render your desktop or whatever is on it.

Having said that, those temperatures you are seeing are normal and nothing unusual about it. Cheers.

Idle, I am using another computer while the notebook just sits there and I watch the temperature gauges.

Ah, well, I find mine staying around 58-60 in such a scenario, though not always - sometimes it keeps going through the cycles.. Still, nothing to be alarmed about it, IMHO.

Totally agree with him, your temps also depend on the ambient room temperature

Thank you very much. This is my first experience with Nvidia for anything related to a computer.

Rohangarg: Seems like my GPU is along the same lines for max temp. After running the software for about 10 or 15 minutes, temp fluctuates between 74 and 73. Nice software, really stressing the GPU at 1920x1200 default settings.

Jackyb: had? Did you fix it?

No Problem, just curious. Just trying to get this settled. (Out of warranty system exchange, so I only have 90 days to get this system reliable)

    you double checked drivers etc?
i had a nasty nvidea driver once that would over heat my system and cause it too crash.

happens with multiple drivers, I am going to try the new 179.28 when they get official. But I have used other drivers from laptopvideo2go, and the same situation happens, but it bottoms out higher (65-68 constant) with others.

ive tried 5 drivers so far and all of them gave me roughly the same temps,so i thought why not go for one which supports phsX :D

Max temp appears to be 74 using that tool that was listed.
