    Hi,
First time post here. This board was quite unfluential in me getting a Dell XPS M1530.
    My specs are;
    Dell XPS M1530 Black
    Intel C2D T8300 2.4Ghz
    2GB RAM 5400
    250GB HDD
    1440 x 900 TL
    NVIDIA 8600GT.

My first question is, after reading some posts, I notice the talk about bad Samsung screens? I personally hate Samsung myself, but I've never noticed anything that is sort of grainy etc. So I checked my Hardware Id and it seems that I have a SEC3157 which appears to be a Samsung.
What is this grainyness? I can't seem to tell anything, I personally think this screen is beautiful myself. Should I be getting better? Is there an easy/obvious way to tell? I may just be blind.

Also, I've noticed this in some threads but none had an answer. Does the touchpad get quite hot? When I first got the computer the touchpad got REALLY hot (burning fingers), but on HWmonitor, everything seemed fine. I opened the wireless compartment and noticed nothing hot at all! I can accept the HDD (left part) gets warm, but I just ended up using a external mouse and have contacted Dell. After a few weeks usage the touchpad now only seems warm which is acceptable, is this normal?

    Thanks.

About the graininess issue, it's something that you'll notice quickly if your display is infact grainy. You might've gotten lucky with your screen, who knows. I have the same Samsung screen on my 1420, it's flawless as well.

Congrat's on your 1530 purchase!!! Welcome to the 1530 Posse ;) :) You shall surely enjoy!

I myself, have the LG on my 1530, and absolutely love it! ;) :)
But, if you really enjoy your screen...why change it..if it's working for you! ;) :) I guess...don't look for something that may not be there! ;)

My Touchpad does not get hot at all. It will get a *little warm* but in no means, *hot* or that it would *burn* ;) :) A little *warm* for me, I can live with as long as it doesn't cause any other problems.

Enjoy your 1530...if it's really causing a lot of *problems* call and have a technician look at it, or have it replaced if you are w/in the 21 days of invoicing ;) :)

    Cin ;) :)

    Thanks for your replies. :).
I do however notice some things about the screen but thought it was quite standard... Whiteness looks like the whiteness you get on paper, not flawless white, but like the type of effect you see on plain paper, if you know what I mean, but not so much as grainy. Also when staring at the screen directly the sides (left and right) aren't as bright as the centre. Is noticeable, when I move my head left or right, but I thought this was quite normal. Even looking at some of the comparison pictures I can't seem to tell the difference! O_O Could someone please, inform me on this? XD.
Do you think that I should arrange to get this sorted? And will Dell (UK) offer to replace the screen under warranty, on such an issue?

The touchpad heat, I've gotten over with, just gets warm. Probrably to do with the surface I'm using my laptop on? (Wooden Desk).
