In Vista, is it possible to disable the wireless radio through software rather than using the manual switch? I could do it in XP (dual boot) simply by clicking on the signal bars icon in the taskbar but no such icon exists in Vista.

Start > Right click on Network > Properties > "Manage Network Connections" in the left pane > Right click on Wireless Network Connection > Disable. Few extra steps.

Thanks. I managed to find the signal bar icon. It was not enabled by default like it was in XP.

Right Click on the Wireless Network taskbar icon (or open Control Panel) -> Network and Sharing Center -> Dell Wireless WLAN Card Utility (bottom left) -> View -> Show Utility Icon -> Right click on the signal bars icon in the taskbar -> Enable/Disable Radio
