M1530 Major quality issues regarding construction

My XPS is about 5 month old, i am experiencing problems with the palm rests on this laptop. to be exact its the space to the left and right of the touchpad.

1. problem one, there is a funny sqeaking sound when i apply pressure to the area, eg when i put my hand on it and get ready to use the keyboard. its like walking over a creaky floorboard. the problem is not severe but its annoying.

2. problem two, discolouration, the colour of the aluminum like material is fading away, i can see a distinct faded pattern of my palm on the laptop.


does anyone else experience this?

should claim warranty and does warranty cover issues like this? should i be worrying about it at all?

 

most likely not. unless you have better than the normal warranty they usually dont cover cosemtics

the creaking i have seen even on the best notebooks out there at times.. some that were 4-5k$.. just depends usually how the plastic sits together. if you are up to it a way that i have fixed the creaking in the past is to take it apart and apply a thin piece of felt there like they do in most new cars between the panels.
