Sometimes my WiFi stops when working out of no where, and the WiFi light disappears. I tried to switch on/off the switch.. and it still doesnt detect my network. Sometimes it does detect my network but it doesnt want to connect.

Everytime this happens, I have to restart my laptop for it to work again.
    Help anyone?
    Thanks

I have had this exact problem, it is very annoying. Have you found a solution yet? Also I have trouble while surfing the web where I type in a address or click on a link and I receive a "server not found" error as though I am not connected. I have to refresh the page several times before it appears. I know it is not my network, because my desktop pc has never had connection issues, and I get the same issue on my school network even though none of my friends do. I would very much appreciate any help.

    Thanks

I get the same problem, my connection will just drop and the status will be "unidentified network". My wireless connection is still excellent but only have "local" access and not "local & internet". I have a D-link wireless N router. It works perfectly at a friend house who has a G router.

i have the wireless card that was shipped with my xps m1330, have never changed any parts or taken my laptop apart, I thought it might just be the drivers but if i try to update it says that my hardware is already using the latest drivers, no need to update. I noticed that the mysterious drop of wifi and loss of the little wifi light happens mostly when i close my laptop and it goes to sleep mode, when i open it again the wifi light is gone. this doesn't happen all the time and sometimes wifi light just vanishes randomly, switching the wifi switch does nothing, i have to restart my computer. this is a huge hassle when going from class to class at school and having to reboot my laptop each time to regain internet connection.

After a lot of trial and error I think I've found the solution for this. I'm no expert but what must be happening is that to save power under Sleep mode, vista will turn off the power of the wireless card. When you wake up the computer there's probably something that Vista needs to do when it's re-activated that doesn't get done in this scenario. Sleep mode can be a bit flawed with hardware. So the solution I have found and has worked five out of five time compare to never before is to make sure your computer doesn't turn off the power.

    Right click on My Computer
    Device manager
Find your wireless card > properties
    Power Management tab
Uncheck the box for "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"
    Click Okay

EDIT: There are other posts with the same solution on the NBR forums. The issue was that I didn't know it was a direct cause of sleep mode. Searching "unidentified network" would bring me the issue but wouldn't pin point the problem.
