I currently have the Mat****a UJ-857G slot drive and it is terrible. I seem to have a hard time getting quality burns. For instance, DVD's tend to skip like crazy when playing back. Do you guys know what other model slot drives come with the M1330? I am looking to swap the drive and hopefully I can contact Dell so they can arrange the swap for free. The dvd burning capabilities of my m1330 is probably the only thing I hate about it.

    Thanks.

You can use the Hitachi/LG GSA-S10 (N) drive, which are fitted in Apple Macbooks (I used one to replace my UJ-857G as well, since that drive couldn't be made to read DVDs from all regions). Dell also used these in the past.

Swapping it was easy, but you have to dismantle a lot of the M1330 to get to it!

yeah, those matshita drives are the worst and I'm stuck with one until I find the energy to do some inner surgery. I don't use the drive all that much anymore, but when I find out I have a need for it, I end up with nothing but problems. I also heard that the firmware can't even be updated. Dell really screwed the pooch on putting this bast*&% child of Panasonic in any Dell. With my GPU / motherboard failing and this crappy drive, Dell is definitely not on my gift list for Christmas.
