I ordered a certified refurbished M1330 from Dell recently. When I received the computer, the power cord included with the computer would not plug into the power supply pack. The power supply pack is Model No. LA90PS1-00 (90W, PA-10 Family).

When I called Dell to ask for the proper power cord (incidentally, I've since discovered that the cord from my old Sony Vaio fits properly), the technician said he couldn't figure out the power supply that I was supposed to have. He couldn't simply send me the proper cord for my power supply, but insisted on sending me a new power supply as well.

The power supply I received, however, is completely different from the one that originally came with the computer. It's Model No. DA65NS4-00. Though it doesn't list a wattage rating, the volts/amps rating indicates it's output is 65W. Also, the plug (into the computer) is octagonal (while the original supply was round).

Could someone let me know what power supply is supposed to come with the M1330? I'm leery of returning the 90W power supply for a 65W supply (especially since the tech didn't even seem to be sure what supply was supposed to come with my computer). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What kind of graphics card do you have?

If its integrated you can use a 65W Adapter (PA-9??) with octagonal plug.

If it has an 8400, you should use a 90W adapter (PA-10) with round plug.

I have the 8400 and use the 65W (octagonal) just fine.

my guess is it really doesn't matter; as long as the plug fits and it the same shape.

    the 90W just charges faster.

Mine has the 8400, so I suspect I should be using the 90W. Thanks for the information, guys!

I think that the advantage of the higher wattage power supply is that the battery is recharged quicker when the machine is in use.
