For some reason, some of my Fn+ shortcuts have stopped working. Actually, they haven't worked for ages.

Fn+F1 doesn't put the computer in sleep
    Fn+F2 doesn't turn on/off wireless
    Fn+F3 doesn't show the battery

    BUT...

    Fn+Up & Fn+Down work to change brightness
and Fn+ the various number pad keys work to use numbers

Also, for some strange reason, when I press Fn+Down Arrow, not only does the screen get darker, but Windows Live Messenger pops up.

Oh and lastly, I installed a Intel 5300 wireless card. It's not too bad, and gets a decent signal. But unlike my old Dell card, it causes the WiFi light to blink, like an activity light. Is there anyway to disable that?

    Thanks guys!

Some of the function buttons might need ControlPoint or some other OS-level software to work, but I don't think that's the case for sleep and wireless. Do you know if those Fn keys work on their own? The keyboard might've developed some defects; I feel like that could account for both the failed fn combos and the Windows Messenger issue.

Not quite sure about the 5300. Might be a feature rather than a bug. You can try putting it in a slot other than the WLAN slot (in which case that fn combo will never work, but I think it'll disconnect the card completely from the light).
