I've searched around a fair bit and can't find any mention of the problem I'm having with my M1330. It was working fine when one day in the middle of just typing an email it went blink. By blink I mean totally dead, no lights, no sound, no nothing 100% kaput.

I've tried everything, removed the battery, tried booting both plugged in and not plugged in. Tried booting holding the function key. There is absolutely no sign of life at all.

An interesting note is that when you plug in the AC adapter to the laptop the LED on the AC adapter goes out. I've never seen that before.

Any ideas? I'm guessing motherboard because of all the problems I've read about, however all those problems seem like a GPU issue with the laptop still being at least partially alive. Mine is deader then dead and the AC adapter doesn't seem to like it.

The warranty is expired so Dell is no help.

yah, I think you might as well recycle it...

It sounds like a motherboard as you already stated.

You can't get a new motherboard for a laptop, right?

The GPU problem on my daughter's MacBook Pro showed up as the displays (internal and external) not working. The computer would boot up; you just wouldn't be able to see anything unless you used something like VNC or Remote Desktop. It sounds like a motherboard issue.

How old is the system and can you get a cheap mobo replacement from Dell?

I guess I could get a replacement from Dell but at around $300 for a replacement motherboard it feels a bit pricey. Almost tempted to just get a new laptop for that price. Especially if these mobo's are failure prone.

I heard Dell is going to extend warrenty for one year if your system is using Nvidea 8400 because of current heat issue.
So call Dell anyway ask nicely they may help you.

    For your problem,
80% your DC power supply area of system but 20% chance may be just AC adapter problem.
