    Hi,

i have a friend with a M1330 with a webcam & his wife has a mac with a webcam. I think she uses Ichat for chat & someone suggested using SkyPE to talking to a PC user with a webcam.

So, both the Mac & M1330 have webcams.

How hard is this to setup?

    Thanks,
    Rich

Simple, just install and create a username on both computers and start a call. used it to video chat with my M1530 and girlfriends macbook pro. Just installed on both computers and searched for her username and started a call. both computers used webcams and built in mics started up as soon as skype started so no need to configure on either machine.

I recommend you take a look at Sightspeed; highly rated for its good video quality, and it will let you video chat between Macs and Windows machines easily...and it's free also. In tests, it's scored better than Skype for video quality; I use it, and have to agree.

iChat is NOT an option; don't even waste your time (it's supposed to work if you set up an AOL IM account, but your mileage may vary; not worth the effort in my opinion).

Oh, whatever program you use, your friends must install and use also, of course. Both Skype and Sightspeed have Mac and Windows versions. Both programs will recognize your speakers, mike, and webcam. Depending on your computer, if you start hearing a howling echo when you talk, you may need to buy an external mike, or use headphones, since such echoes are feedback from your speakers back into your mike.
