I recently upgraded my M1330 from Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional, and I've lost the ability to use both audio outputs at the same time.

For example, on the front of my laptop, there are two audio outputs, so that two people can listen to something at the same time.

However, after going to Windows 7, I've lost that ability. Both of the outputs work, but you cannot use 2 headphones simultaneously.

Any ideas? I used the SigmaTelHD Vista drivers and no luck.

You need to go into SigmaTelHd audio settings and enable the output jack and save. ;)

If you can't find the audio settings described by BR (I know I struggled) then just put your earphone plug in the microphone socket as this should auto launch the control panel.

Control panel, now click onto audio control panel (in my case IDT HD Sound), look for front panel from here you'll be able to enable the jacks. ;)

I tried this, but nothing happened.

Also I think I found the Control Panel for audio settings, as it displayed which output jack was which one, but found no way to enable it. Any ideas?

    Attached are screenshots.

This is when NO headphones are plugged in AND only when it is plugged into the left one.

This is when it is plugged into the right one AND when 2 of them are plugged in.

I am not sure the windows control panel allows you to define what each socket does (I certainly could not find it). Have you tried inserting the headphone plug into the mic socket?

When I did this on my M1330 the IDT control panel is automatically launched and in there you can set the headphone sockets up.

Also check that your speaker outputs are set to 2channel and not 5 channel as if it is set to 5 channel then the two headphone sockets do different things.

Thanks for the responses. The mic port trick didn't work for me, which tells me I'm missing something.

I can't find the Audio Control Panel for my sound!

Does it work with the 7 generic drivers?

I'm pretty sure Windows 7 downloaded the drivers when I first installed it, because when I try to download the SigmaTel one from Dell's Drivers page, it tells me that I already have it (Dell Driver Manager thing pops up and says no downloads are available.)

I just don't have that Audio Control Panel that others are talking about.

    1. When installing Win7 it will install the default Microsoft drivers and they work.
    2. If you then upgrade to SigmaTelHD or IDT HD drivers running the exe file both will install drivers and control panels.
    3. Now I ask you did your audio work with default setup drivers?
Now try this make sure to download audio drivers from SXPS 1645, go device manager, sound video and games controller now expand the item right click properties >drivers > once in the drivers tab select Uninstall and advance remove and delete all details. Once done reboot go to you saved SXPS 1645 audio drivers and install it or go to device manager should now have Unknown device from here update or install drivers navigate to your saved SXPS audio drivers.
If you have already done any of the above then there something up with you OS system..
