I bought a new SXPS 1645 in June and never gave much thought to the Windows Experience Index, but I saw on these forums that people with comparable machines are getting much higher scores. I know that the WEI isn't the most reliable test, but I'm a little peeved none the less.

I already tried installing the Intel Rapid Storage Technology, which changed nothing.

    6GB of RAM
    Processor - Intel Core i7 Q 720 @ 1.60 GHz
Hard Drive - Samsung SSD PM800
Graphics Card - Raedeon HD 5730

I was hoping the SSD would give me a better performance, any tips for brining up the scores?

I have that SSD in a desktop from dell and it shows 7.4 for the HDD score. 5.9 is usually a conventional HDD. Do you have your sata drives set as AHCI in the BIOS? I don't think it usually affects your performance that much, but it might be worth checking out.

WEI is an experience index, not a benchmark or definitive test. The 5730 is an overclocked 5650 which is a solid mid range card. A 5.9 HDD test indicates a traditional platter HDD, and only SSD will yield higher HDD score.

You can also modify the XML file and put in any values you want..

Those scores are pretty brutal. For whatever reason discussing WEI scores are somewhat taboo on these forums since how they work exactly is such a mystery.

For example, here are my SXPS 1645 scores:

    i7 720QM (same processor)
4GB RAM (default Dell ram, 2 less GB than your system)
ATI Mobility 4670 (in reality it's significantly slower than your 5730)
    500GB HDD (default Dell drive)

How this works- no one knows.

The sata drives are set as AHCI, is there another performance test I could use or any other numbers I could post?

I dont know why your SSD is that low. Do you have the IRST Driver, and have the lastest firmware installed?

As erick_e said, try latest IRST. Be careful with firmware updates. Backup your data first, because there is always a chance it bricks your SSD and it's harder to backup data from an SSD.

Try Crystal Disk Mark to benchmark your SSD.

Do you have the OS and bios set to AHCI mode?
And are you have the SSD as your primary?

Dang those scores are pitiful, how have you partitioned your SSD? Maybe yours is genuinely defective..

Updats your firmware, older samsung drivers don't have trim by default.

When done, fill your entire drive whit crap and then delete those files. Write performance should be back to normal.

What capacity is your drive at right now? I found that performance starts degrading after around 60% full

Less than 50%, but he has no trim so the drive acts as it if where full.

I thought Samsungs had a good GC built into the drive so TRIM doesn't make a significant difference?
