    Hello,

I currently own a Dell XPS m1530 with Vista SP1. I need a way to keep CPU Speed 2.2 Ghz constantly to elimate CPU Spike and freezing with certain games. (can be seen with CPUZ also)

    I've tried :
RMClock : Dosen't work CPU keeps switching between 1.1 and 2.2 GHz (see attachment for picture of graphs and options) I did also play with the Thermal Monitor settings too...
NHC : Dosen't work on Vista SP1.. it can't change CPU speed....

Is there ANY DELL XPS M1530 USER who has SUCCESSFULLY been able to KEEP CPU SPEED AT MAXIMUM.

    Dell XPS m1530
    T7500 2.2Ghz
    8600m GT

    Thanks

Go to the power options in control panel.
Select your power profile, and select advanced options. Then, look for cpu power management. Set both minimum and maximum allowed values as 100% ( or any other number )
Now, you will not see any spikes :)

Spikes are still there.. can be even seen with CPUZ.. speed alternating between 1.1 Ghz and 2.2Ghz

Did you check that the same min and max speed is set for the cpu for both AC and battery.
Also, check whether rmclock is actually working. One way to do this is to use the max profile and select the profile you want to use. CPUZ should show the speed and voltage ( voltage shown in cpuz will be higher than set in rmclock )

Then, go to the profiles page of rmclock and change the voltage of the multiplier you are using in your max profile. If cpuz detects a corresponding voltage change then rmclock is working fine.

Also try rebooting vista once. Sometimes I have seen that power management settings are not applied till the system is restarted

I hope it is of some help to you :)
