What do you usually set your power options to for the laptop?

For when you close the lid, does it go to sleep or just turn monitor off?

I heard putting it to sleep makes the laptop hotter? What if, right after playing games, I put it in sleep mode, put it in a laptop sleeve, and the sleeve in a backpack?

u have to be careful that nothing interrupts the sleep mode (eg windows update and some other update stuff used to interrupt my hibernate mode on my media center desktop.....) or your machine might heat up inside an enclosed environment....

i usually just shutdown my laptop.... i can wait that 3 minutes for everything to load up and boot watever i need

Well, I learnt, putting to sleep has its own advantages or 'disadvantages' (though I dont know what exactly) if you may like to call it that way..

And I don't think I would recommend putting it in sleep mode, and letting it inside the sleeve and in a backpack.. I dont think its a good idea considering the heating.. it might get hot.. Check it out before you do so.

Though it depends on how quickly you are going to use it back again... may be if you are going from one place to other sleep may be an option...

You can configure what you want to do in the power options.. personally I don't let it sleep usually (and most of the time I use it as a DT replacement)... I just let it idle away.. and I shut it down at the end of the day or whenever I have to carry it around.. I think its better than sleeping it off....

But in power options you can configure many things.. check it out.

yea i dont use sleep mode, nor do i plan to. i usually just shut it off, plus it boots up pretty fast.

for the battery, how long do u think a typical 9 cell battery would last (2 years?)

i usually set it to power saver when traveling, even tho i have the 9 cell, and my computer is set to do nothing when i close the lid, i just plug in my earphones and use the remote to volume up or down, sleep mode gave me a lot of problems, it had conflicts with my video drivers. when i put the lappy on its bag i turn it off, it starts up again in less than a minute :p

    I usually leave my 1530 on *balanced*, I use a 9 cell and 6 cell... :D
(9 cell primarily, 6 cell when *out and about*)

If, I'm going to be a way for the day...I simply *shut down* my lappy ;)

    Cin ;) :)
