I think my laptop screen is officially dead.

Should I get a LCD replacement which costs like $200 ?

Or a brand new laptop which is at $960. I'm looking at ASUS N55SF-EH1, powerful.

What do you guys think ?

If you can live without the option of a 'backlit' keyboard, then ASUS would be a better choice. I bought my XPS 17 ONLY because I needed something with a lighted keyboard. If ASUS offers them I'd jump on it in a heartbeat. My point is: Asus is a better computer, and Dell is pure junk! This would be my first and last Dell.

I love my L702X, it has worked flawlessly since the day I took it out of the box. I went from a HP HDX 16 that I loved to the Dell and I couldn't be happier. I didn't like the screen because of the graininess, called dell, told them it was hard to read web pages and three days later a tech came out and replaced the screen. If there is anything I might complain about it would be the matte screen. I was used to the high def glossy screens HP has on thier laptops.

^^The XPS 17 has so much potential but it is severely marred by major design flaws. The good thing about Dell is their customer service, they always try to make it right, but sometimes.....well, actually a lot of times my XPS would act up and it has became nothing but a nuisance since owning it. I also got the crappy grainy screen and they sent me a replacement but somehow it flickered and they sent me another one and it did the same, to the point where they had to completely rebuild me a new system. That solved the flickering issue but I still get a sudden 'flash' (like a point & shoot camera) once in a while, and numerous other things.
