    Hi there:

I currently have two 1330's at my power... one with a LED Toshiba screen (LCD2306) and one with a CCFL AUO1424 screen. I've always heard LED is supposed to be much better etc, HOWEVER, i find the image on the CCFL LCD to be much sharper and crisper. Also, there is no grain whatsoever.

On the other hand, colors look more vivid and better on the LED, however, LED is grainy, and looks less sharp.

Is this normal?? I thought LED ought to kick CCFL's arse

Are you sure both computers are running at 1280x800? what about graphics settings ? If you have nVidia 8400M then there is a digital vibrance setting you can adjust to enhance the color vibrance. I only have a CCFL screen, so cant tell you how it compares to a LED, sorry.

My sister has an xps 1330 with Toshiba Led screen (LCD2306). A friend of mine has one with CMO Led screen. The cmo one is super grainy compared to toshiba to the point i couldn't stand it anymore. Compared to the samsung ccfl in my 1720 I find the toshiba led in the xps 1330 MUCH MUCH better.
If I really search for it maybe I can convince myself there is some grain on the toshiba screen but it's nowhere near the level of the CMO one.

i hate grain - any of it. it's ridiculous that you paid extra for led and there's still a debate over which one is better. i'm waiting until led tech gets better...

I have had both for some time (CCFL and Toshiba LED) and thought that the CCFL was smother and as bright as the LED if not more, with much much better camera, however the LED has sharper deeper colors, and in fact I kept the LED just because it is thinner, at the end I think LED wins but I would not pay more than $10 for the upgrade.
