I would not want to get the 1920x1200 screen. It is impossible to read it is so small. The led 1440x900 is a good resolution for a 15" screen. As for the nvidia card, i would be scared to buy it because of their known faults.

first off I dont find it impossible to read and second when I want it larger like right now it looks fine at 1440x900 or even larger, it doesn't distort it at all.

1900 x 1200 is insane. Many people have great vision (me included) but why would you want to strain your eyes. Eye health degrades once you surpass 115 pixels per inch. Your eyes naturally get worse every year, not just in vision but in oxygen quantity, and elasticity. Going above 115 will only accelerate that.

Some people will be ok with 120, some can't tolerate above 110 pixels per inch. But going over 140 ppi... why would you want to mess with your eyes like that?

I've said it many times, if you need that high of a resolution get an external monitor. Ten years from now you'll thank me.

I like to use this chart:

have any of u guys puttin down the WUXGA screen, actually had any real use with them?

text size shouldn't be a problem at all. all of yur text size from icons to webpages can be set to display at whatever dpi/font size u want.

    - LED guy: "why would u need all that extra real estate?"
    - WUXGA guy: "why would u need a screen that is too bright? u have to turn the brightness down just to use it regularly."

LED vs WUXGA is like apples and oranges. which one do u like more? LED's are very nice screens. they are very bright, great for outdoor use, and generally consume less energy. i prefer better viewing angle, more vivid colors for movies, and superior on-screen real estate. so i went with the WUXGA. most ppl that i've ever met or talked to, that switched to WUXGA. they will tell u that they'll never switch back to a lower res screen. i am one of them (last 3 notebooks were WUXGA).

Yes, i have used one. My friend has an hp with it and both of us can not bear it for more than 5 minutes. I guess if your nose is right on the screen its ok, but if your at a normal distance it hurts your eyes after using it for a while.

It seems like a waste of money/loss of quality to order a high res screen and then lower it back down.

do u know about DPI settings?

loss of quality? what do u mean? no matter what type of screen, it will not display to its full potential outside of it's native resolution. LED's are generally thinner, brighter, last a good amount of time, and use less energy. those are the main sellin factors for a LED screen. u guys should've studied about WUXGA screens before u made that leap.

if u are talkin about picture quality, a LED screen cannot compare to a WUXGA.

i've said this once and i'll say it again. i will never ever go back to a lower resolution screen. period. (nothin against u LED guys :p)

lol it's like my previous post got completely ignored.

Guys.. if you love computing, don't destroy your eyes. Your eyes are all you have. 1920 x 1200 on 15.4" is a recipe for disaster. You should be proud that you have great vision and can see clearly at such a high resolution, but don't be a fool about it.

It's like someone drinking gasoline everyday and saying, "but I feel great and love the smell!" Sure.. but then your liver will fail and your body will eventually shut down. Your vision loss probably won't kill you but your vision will get worse, and for what? A higher resolution screen? Seems pointless to me but maybe I'm missing the point - I guess it really is worth it

IMHO.... if u plain to game, get the 1440x900 since you will get betters fps... now if you work with something like image editing, or just use it to browse the web, and stuff like that, take de 1920x1200... it is an awesome screen, and i'm not agree that you are destroying ur eyes.
Well, being in front of a computer will destroy them anyway.... 1920x1200 doesn't look that small, everything is clear enuff.

I accept the 'eye strain is bad,bad,BAD.......' train of thought, but it depends on what you're going to be using the screen for.

Personally I use the 120 dpi function, which results in a text which anybody can read easily whithout too much effort, and I also get a screen that looks visually stunning. I think this is the best combination.

btw I haven't noticed that much of a difference (if any) as regards game fps, running very intensive games in non-native still looks brilliant.

did u completely ignore my post where i said there's nothing to strain about. i am at least arms 3+ feet away from my screen at all times. at the end of the day, it'll all come down to what fits yur needs/wants. please don't spread false information.

yea this is pretty true. most newer games will never be played at 1920x1200 or higher resolution. unless the rig has a powerful 8800-series or higher config'd GPU. but i would rather have the option to scale down when needed, rather than to not be able to scale up at all. vista scales very well so gaming quality will have very little, if any effects.

    Movies? 1920x1200.

Anything else? WLED 1440x900. So bright and beautiful. Perfect for some games, internet browsing, etc.

Edit: I don't know why people say 1920x1200 is too small. They must have really bad eyes :(
