I have an l702x which displays the your power supply is not recognised error and refuses to then charge the battery, at first I found I could fix this error by wriggling the power supply jack, but this after a while no longer worked. I first tried the dental pick method to ensure a snug fit, when this didn't work I replaced the power jack inside the pc, this didn't work. I then made sure that the power supply lead made a good connection with the pc jack, nada. Replacing the power supply with a new identical one off ebay did not work either(both are displayed as unknown in the system BIOS).

The battery is now at zero charge(due to not ever charging for the past four months), so I cannot update the BIOS. The OS every now and then displays no battery is connected error, and the dell troubleshooter program says replace the battery(however if a specific battery test is run it passes but the battery is displayed as unknown). The battery used to display one white light when it was detected, now that it is no longer detected it displays none(also the power charging symbol flashes four orange and then one white repeatedly) Is there anyway to fix this(I'm wary of just buying a battery because I'm £40+ out of pocket now with no resolution)?
