My XPS17 will not play Blu-ray disks. I end up with error 0122 ""Cyberlink PowerDVD cannot play protected content using your current display device settings (clone/span mode). Try switching to extend or just using a single display."" ! I'm using the internal HL-DT-ST DVDRWBD CT30N player and the laptops built-in monitor 17.3 FHD WLED AG (1920x1080). My W7/64 is clean installed and stable running on a Crucial M4 128GB SSD as boot drive. I have the GT550M running 8.17.12.6830 (latest dell drivers). Tried playing different disks from Spartacus Blood & Sand Blu-ray Set, none played. Tried a bargain bin blu-ray copy of From Dusk till Dawn, same error. Using PowerDVD 9.6, patched to latest 9.6.1.4418. I have uninstalled and re-installed both the Dell (268.30) and Nvidea drivers (280.26) - complete with reboots in between. I have uninstalled and re-installed and patched the PowerDVD 9.6 from my dell downloads. I have checked the settings for both the intel and nvidea adapters, all confirm I am running on the built-in dispaly. I've been at this for 3 days now and its getting old. I can't believe this machine can't play a freakin blu-ray.

I don't know if I can help, but this seems like a common problem and usually points to the multi display settings in the Nvidia Control Panel.Have you connected external screens before? If you have maybe connect one again and then goto the Nvidia Control Panel and check the settings under multi display settings. If the clone settings are selected, then set your laptop display as primary andset the mode to.. Only use one display.See if the Blu-ray will play then.I've never had this problem.

Tx bazzz3 but I had never used another display before this since my clean install. I tried to connect to my Panasonic TV and sure enough, the Nvidea adapter appears in the control panel. I deselect the Intel adapter and sure enough the Blu-ray plays. I stopped the playback, shut down PowerDvd and disconnected the hdmi cable and the Nvidea adapter dropped out of the control panel. Just to be sure I double checked to be sure all my settings were set single display, they were. Re-ran powerdvd and I get the same error. I tried to see if I could set the nvidea as the default for Powerdvd but the nvidea control panel pre-selects Intel Adapter and allows no option. I think I may know whats going on here, ...PowerDVD starts loading under the Intel Adapter and at some point the Nvidea kicks in and cuases the powerdvd to think its seeing two monitors in clone mode and throws the error. (An Optimus problem maybe) Now all I have to do is figure out how to fix it. can anyone help????????? thanks
