    Hi all,
I got a L702X. It has a i7-2720qm and nvidia optimus. So the intel integrated graphic runs cool. However, when I connect a display to the HDMI port, the Nvidia GPU turns on, heat starts to go up and the fan would start cranking, which is annoying.

In the intel spec, the integrated graphic should have HDMI output. Is there any way I could force it not to use the nvidia GPU when I am using dual screen?

    Thanks!

Someone here earlier pointed out that while NVidia GPU is wired to the HDMI port, Intel integrated graphics are wired to the Mini DisplayPort. So you could plug some HDMI converter/cable into Mini DisplayPort to avoid the heat/fan (I bought mine for around $13 but have not tested it yet).
