My right speaker startet crackling a minute or two ago, and the sound disappeared. Is this a common problem?

as in distortion? Ive had distortion a few times before. I believe it depends on what settings you have you realtek drivers at in your waves audio center. But if it is crackling it may be a physical issue with a speaker or connection. Or it may have been some static electricity in it somehow although im not sure it would be.

if you took apart the machine to mod something such as the dust filter, thermal repaste or anything else like replace the mobo, there is still a chance that the speaker connector will not be properly/fully connected so that may be the issue, there are also chances the issue is on another place like the audio pcb hardware, or it also can be a software issue, like drivers , configs or a single app

I also get that too sometimes - rarely though and it appears to be some minor interferance. Never affects the audio quality or sound so it shouldn't be too much to worry about. :)

No, it wasn't distortion. It sounded like someone was screwing around with a slightly loose cable. The left speaker (dunno about the subwoofer) wasn't affected.

I guess I'll just have to listen a lot to music and see if it happens again.

I have taken off the palmrest to replace the HDD with a SSD, that's about it. (And replaced the RAM, of course).

that could be the issue, I would try to open the machine again and check for a loose or broken cable at the speaker.
