    18 moth old XPS15 - i7 2630QM - 6GB RAM - Win7 64 - 256GB M5 SSD for OS and 750GB WD HDD in caddy

Had no problems at all until a week ago - no significant software updates/installs in that time afaik.

Initially got system freeze after 20-40 minutes of normal (not gaming) use and 000000F4 BSOD then freeze with 0000007A BSOD.

Now after 20-40 mins of normal use the active app (whether its firefox, photoshop etc) becomes unresponsive. The mouse still moves across the desktop but the whole system has frozen, no BSOD, requiring a hard reset - after which everything is normal for another 20-40 mins when it all happens again.

Suspected HDD issue so replaced with new WD Scorpio but problem persists. About to roll boot SSD back to an earlier image to try to eliminate software isses but would appreciate any thoughts from you guys on issue before I do.

    Many thanks!

My experience in regard with freezing, laptop not responding (BSOD), mostly were relating software/driver/ heat issues and only once HD failure, in fact twice. Viruses could cause this as well..
Take a look here Blue Screen of Death STOP Codes, good stuff to read about.
