    Hi everyone!
I've been having issues with my keys. They seem to be less than sensitive enough, as sometimes I have to pound on each key as I type or the letter will not deploy. In other words, when I type normal, my words are missing half the letters. This seems to come and go, but it drives me crazy. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions for me? Thank you much for considering this.

If you're still under warranty, call Dell to have them send you a replacement keyboard.

If not, buy one off of e-bay. You may want to consider the Vostro 1400 black keyboard as a replacement as there is no flex and key feel is more crisp.

Thanks for the awesome advice. :) I believe I'm still under warranty, as I bought this in August. But I will immediately address this before it's too late.

Just to give an update.. I called Dell and was on the phone forever doing their diagnostic tests.. Turns out it's a software (they said Vista) problem- not hardware. So.. if the problem doesn't resolve itself, they said I will need to re-install Vista.

So thanks for your help. I'll stay aware and vigilant to make sure they do what they can to help me.

That's a large slice BS pie from Dell Tech Support. There are a number of well documented cases where people have had the same issue and a keyboard swap has fixed them. No reason a s/w udate or re-install would have any effect, other than to waste hours of your life. I dumped the silver original keyboard on my 1330 about 2 days after I bought it from Best Buy, and Dell wouldn't deal with me and BB wanted to send it way for repair (they said 10 days but when I sent in another notebook it was away for 5 weeks).

Luckily I have PC parts people 1 mile from my work and they have new Vostro black keyboards for $30, and they work A LOT better than the original crappy 1330 silver keyboards. My advice, just get the Vostro and don't spend fruitless time on the phone with Indian droids.

PC parts people are here BTW http://www.parts-people.com/
(no connection with them other than as a satisfied customer....)
