    Hello guys,

I just got my Dell XPS m1530 from Dell a couple days ago.

Unluckily, it has a hole in the chassis, so I'm expecting them to get me a new laptop. How long does it usually take to get me the same laptop?

Also, my invoice says I requested Vista Home Premium, is there any way I can get them to upgrade to Ultimate? I thought I told them to do so, however, they said the only way to do so is to return it then buy a new one. Too bad they don't still have the 25% coupon off XPS m1530, so I can't do that. Any suggestions? .

Hole in the chassis? Where on the chassis? Thats a pretty bad mistake.

It actually takes about 3-4 days for you to get your new laptop. They make brand new replacements very fast, much faster than when you first placed your order.

You can't upgrade, yes, you'd have to return and buy a new one. I've tried doing that talking with multiple different reps, but they all say no, you must return your order and place a new one.

Actually this coupon, though specified for M1330, also works for M1530's as well. 25% off any config over $1499. It expires 8/12/08.

    There ya go! :)

I went to configure the XPS m1530 Product (RED), but they don't offer the 1440 x 900 with LED LCD anymore?

The hole is near the Dell insignia. It's not a hole all the way through, but it's there and quite evident.

I just ordered an M1530 about an hour ago with the 1440x900 LED LCD display. I used the 25% off and they gave me another $10 coupon and the 12 month no interest financing.

they do... product red is a scam, dont bother(well, 99% of the time the product(red) config is much pricier than the normal config)

The XPS M1530 has never had the LED option for as far as I can remember. I talked to several Dell reps about it and they were pretty unhelpful about it. Generally the answer I got was "if you don't see the option there (online) then we cannot put it in for you."

With the deal that I was looking at, the Product RED was coming out to the same price as the other one, I believe.

The 25% coupon isn't stackable, and I wanted the 1920 x 1200 at the time, so the base model was the best option for 25% off.

Any word on this? Or should I just go ahead and keep the 1920 x 1200 resolution?

they might not have it anymore for the time being on the site because its backordered like crazy, i got mine 1440x900 LED and its been in production for like 2 weeks almost -- only thing that is holding it back is the LED screen: backorder

    Ah, that's probably it then.

Looks like I'll keep the 1920 x 1200. It isn't too bad though, since I'll be keeping it close to a power plug at all times.

    Thanks very much people!
