Now what?

where do I update graphics card drivers from? Nvidia site Is not OK right?

also how do i know my sound system is working? atm the mcafee update is taking about an hour

 

hi congrats on ur new l502x great system iv had mine a few months now n still love it, you can get your drivers from nvidia without any problems Beta and Legacy Drivers - GeForce that site there is for the beta drivers which is the best to date as they are updated for all the latest games like skyrim and batman arkham city and give them a performance boost all u av to do is go to link and select ur graphics card and which windows version u have and it will provide you with your download link good luck

as for the sound part u have a touch button on ur keyboard that i can only describe the picture is like a set of teeth press that and it will bring up ur dell audio manager and it will let u check everything is ok for ur sound and let you tweak it to how u want

 

hey thanks, its pretty good sofar, taking ages to copy my games across though . my dad started going crazy when i said i was going to update my graphics card as its a hybring or something and its not good idea. on the nvidia site i checked the latest drivers for the 540m and it said not for hybrid laptops. at least for the latest version. current i am 268.30.

also my dvdrom drive is crazy, i just started to install mass effect 2 and it nearly vibrated off my desk lol, had to put a bit of paper under it. is that normal?

Yeah, my XPS 15's DVD drive vibrates and is noisier than the drive in my old Inspiron 6000.

 

Congrats, I have the l702x and downloaded the latest Nvidia beta drivers and it all works great. We dads are cautious with our kids. He probably is worried that you may burn up your laptop. I use MSI afterburner, no overclock, just for the GPU temp. The temp is on the screen while you play games so you can see it all the time.

 

day 2 and everything i've thrown at it is running very well atm, except starcraft 2 has a slightly stutter, i have a combination of high-ultra settings at 70fps, randomly drops to 20 every so often like its buffering something

 

I have 290.53 (latest beta drivers straight from nvidia) and have had no problems. I would recommend them.

 

installed. works better now, i had effects set to ultra, when i turned it off there was no slight pause every now and then.

I've found all my games run in high or nearly highest setting. battlefield bad company needed shadows to low but then it was fine.
