When you got the confirmation email what did it list as the part number for your LCD? I ordered by phone because the employee purchase website didn't have the 1680x1050 LCD listed and the sales rep claimed that she was able to do it. However, when I got the confirmation email it says, "320-6077 15.4 inch Wide Screen WXGA TrueLife LCD with 2.0 MP Camera for XPS M1530"

Is your part number 320-6077? I think my sales rep is either absolutely clueless as to the difference between 1280x800 (Dell's version of WXGA) and 1680x1050 (WSGXA+) or she just plain doesn't give a damn (perhaps she gets a bonus for having a certain number of orders before the end of the year?).

Anyway, if you could post the part # for that LCD I'd really appreciate it.

I ordered mine through member purchase too but had to contact the sales rep I use regulary to get what I wanted since it isn't on the site. He set me up and although I don't have the same screen you all got, I got the 1440 x 900 and my part # is 320-6078

Sounds like you've figured it out, but I think you were given the wrong part. Here's the 1440 screen, it does describe as WXGA+.

320-6078 1 15.4 inch Wide Screen WXGA+ TrueLife LCD with 2.0 MO Camera for XPS M1530

Thanks, I was happy too! I've been waiting for Dell to offer the XPS in a 15.4 EPP (Employee Purchase Program) is offered through my work.

I did consider the 1330 but thought it would be a bit small. I don't travel with my laptop so the 15.4 seems to be a perfect fit.

I got 1680x1050. They just started offering the higher res screens a few days ago. Also as of yesterday they still hadn't updated the EPP site which was only offering 1280x800. That's why I placed my order over the phone so I could request the higher res screen.

How do you get $699 off? It's not offered or mentioned in the Dell website when I was building my M1530.

Just wanted to update you folks on my LCD problem... I called Dell and had them cancel the order. I called up their employee purchase plan 800-number and re-ordered (that makes three times now!) with the proper LCD. The sales rep had a hell of a time adding the 1680x1050 LCD to my order but eventually got it on there (I was on hold for 20 minutes, then another 20!).

For everyone's reference, here's my order info (pointless cruft removed):

313-5813 1 Crimson Red Casing With Microsatin Finish XPS M1530
    311-7822 1 3GB, DDR2, 667MHz 2 Dimm, for XPS M1530
    320-6288 1 15.4 inch Wide Screen WSXGA+ TrueLife for XPS M1530

If you are a student, make sure you get the STUDENT DISCOUNT AS WELL. I got my $669 OFF because of the current Dell promotion. You'll see it if you begin to configure it from the 3rd setup. I called via the phone and requested the 1680x1050 display as well. Finally if you use your EPP Student Discount you'll get another 12% OFF which equated to about $200 for me.
