Hi guys I jumped the gun and got a new xps15z from dell outlet. No refurb, just new with these specs. Was this a good buy, as i got it for 800 dollars.

How about the reliability of this machine, is it good quality?

So after looking online ... it seems like half the people love it while the other half hate it. So im still really confused on this. Is the heating such a big issue? Also is the battery only 3 hours? And is the build quality that crappy. It all seemed too good to be true... and now its turning out to be

I dont have this machine, but I heard the battery is non removable from the 15z users, that can be annoying sometimes, the heat disipation is probably a little worse than the L502X one.

jkbuha made also some bios mods to the 15z , so it may run a little cooler with GPU undervolting.

I preffer the L502X one over the 15z, more room to upgreades and more stuff, but since the 15z aims to a smaller size and a really slim machine is normal they removed some features.

    so your choice :)

Hey Sid, for the money I think it's a great machine. It's cooling isn't as good as some of the larger machines, but that's one of the compromises of having a portable unit. I get between 3.5-4.5 hours per charge, and I love the 1080 screen, I don't know that I'll buy another laptop with lesser resolution. I game on it a little and it's fine for casual gaming. Far Cry 3, and Dishonored were fun on it.

Don't sweat your purchase, just enjoy it. If you keep reading everyone's complaints, you'll end up thinking you made a bad purchase, which you didn't. :)

Does Dell XPS 15z have a mSATA port?
