I currently use the I8kfanGUI software to control fan controls for my dell xps computer. I recently purchased a new dell with windows 7 64bit and because the driver isn't signed, thus I'm unable to install I8kfanGUI.

There are a few suggestions in this thread http://cdiefer.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=i8kfan&action=display&thread=664

what i would like to know is by using test mode in w7 will i be jeopardising my computer's security? Would there being any difference in performance issues by using my comp in test mode vs default mode? Are there any alternatives to using I8kfanGUI?

    TIA
