My Dell XPS M1530 Hardware list shows Teac slot DVD - Teac DVW28SLC.

Looking at EBay to buy a replacement for mine (which is sadly dead), I see models listed at Teac DVW28SL (i.e. without the C at the end).

I'm yet to open my laptop to see the actual model on the drive but was wondering if the two models with and without C at the end are one and the same or is there a difference between the two.

    Thanks for your help.

All of these DVD drives are basically compatible. Just get any old PATA slot-load DVDRW and you'll be fine. The DVW28SLC should be fine.

I think you might have this backwards. Do you mean that DVW28SL should be fine since my Dell H/W shows DVW28SLC as the dvd drive?

Either of them should be fine.
