I've got a haswell XPS 13. I like it, but it only came with a 1 year NBD warranty. Like all XPS PCs it is expensive. So I phoned Dell to enquire about extending the warranty from 1 year to 3 years. It will cost £205, about $300. So shall I just pay up. The thought of a fried motherboard 2 days after the warranty ends is what might happen.

Good question. Think about it realistically for just a motherboard it's a small fraction of the full cost of your whole laptop. You think you may not need it but when you do need it after a year on a machine like this. It's worth having the peace of mind. The dell tech support is very good.
