Assuming that i have two separate 1330s, one with standard CCFL and one with LED, is it possible to swap completely the screen? the LCD and also the chassis because the led one is slimmer etc (oh and also the associated webcams)

Would this be much of a deal?

    thanks

It would probably work, but I don't know why you'd want to do that. Why not just swap hard drives? What else is different between the two laptops?

one has nvidia and the other intel... and that is actually solded into the mobo so it must be quite a difficult change, and i want the LED to be with the nvidia

It is possible, but there's a lot of hassle. If you know how to disassemble the screens, that is. And you have to be very careful not to touch the screens.
One thing to note first, ask a technician. You see, I`m not sure that the inverter used in the screens is the same on both models, or if the system does not need a few hardware modifications.
I`d call Dell and ask them...

The LED model has no inverter. Instead, it uses white LED's inserted in the lid of the notebook behind the LCD. The screen as well as the lid would have to be swapped...

Found out on the Studio that if the notebook wasn't originally configured to support WLED, there would be no LED's present in the lid of notebook and therefore won't support LED screen.

I've seen it done on the 1530, but it will need a new lid and new screen, so it isn't as simple as swapping a CCFL for another higher resolution CCFL. Call dell, the price of the "replacement" is in the hundreds of dollars, and its a pain to install and it will void your warrantee unless a tech comes out to do it which is a good idea because when it comes to screens they are very easy to break.

Contrary to general opinion, it isn't too difficult, if you have experience in disassembling your laptop. All you need to do is take off the central contol cover, then the keyboard, disconnect all the cables underneath the keyboard, take out the antenna cables from the wireless card(under the base), then tease the cables out through the notebook, take out the two screws affixing the lid to the base, and swap the complete lid assembly.. You don't even have to take apart the screen..

Yeap... As sesshomaru said, you shouldn't think of changing just the screens, you should be thinking of swapping the entire screen assemblies between the two computers. Simply, just swap anything above the keyboard :)

Both screens come with different hardware (e.g., bezel, back cover, webcam, etc etc). Changing one component will not work... You can't fit the CCFL into an LED housing and vice versa ...
