@daryld: you´re basically right. BUT a lot of users telling that the keyboard with backlight are less flexable then the ohne without backlight(there´s a heavier backplate). I also notice a very "unflexy" keyboard which i like a lot (i have myself backlight)

also, non-backlit keyboard uses stickers for the characters.

yes i had seen a few comment about the flex of the backlit keyboard but i honestly dont have any problem with it mine feels jus as sturdy as my standard keyboard, ziksat i av to say though i would definately recommend the backlit keyboard as it does make a difference at night time and also adds to the looks of the laptop you can purchase the backlit keyboard on ebay for around 40 pounds tho so the option is always there and it is very simple to fit i must say hope u enjoy ur new laptop it really is a great system :)

Both are chiclet. The keys are essentially the same etched into the plastic, even on the non-backlit.
The only difference is that the keys on the backlit are smoother.

Backlit is however only available in following layouts:
    - English UK
    - English US
    - German
    - French
    - Spanish??

    Any other layout is non-backlit.
