It'll probably boot it, but generally ATI cards aren't supported very well on Linux. You may have no 3D acceleration.

i'm pretty sure 4670 is supported on ubuntu

edit: just checked, desktop HD4670 is supported and runs perfectly, i think its safe to assume mobile version will run too, same with i7

I have been using my Dell Studio XPS under OpenSuse 11.1 for a while and just updated to 11.2. Everything--including 3d with nonOS ATI drivers-- works just fine. Two outstanding issues: the dvd eject button does not work (must right click on the cd/dvd in the file browser and select eject from the context menu) and I have not gotten the webcam to work. That said, I have only today begun to try to make these things work. Everything else is perfect. Applications are speedy fast and I don't miss Windows; no, not one little bit.

Details: I got my Dell in September, before i7 was an option, so I'm running core duo 2.9 GHz. I'm running 8G RAM (and run Windows and OpenSolaris under Virtual Box for platform/browser testing).
