I'm using Comcast cable internet, and my wiress router is Linksys WTR160N.
I checked internet speed, and I got

    download - 30016 kb/s
    upload - 1050kb/s
    for my desktop.

    download - 3000 kb/s
upload - ? kb/s (I tired to get upload speed, but it didn't appear...)
    for my laptop.

Does the laptop internet speed seem resonable?!
I mean, I can't do online stuffs with my laptop because my internet is extreamly slow.
My laptop and rotuer are new (it's been only a day), and I don't know what the problem is. Could you guys help me out? TT

Is the desktop hardwired? Is the notebook 802.11g or n? Are you using Dell or Intel wireless?

Check firmware updates for the router and driver updates for the WiFi card. Is your notebook running any firewalls? Dells come factory installed with McAfee I believe. Firewalls/AV programs will slow down your network speeds.

Also, are you using the same internet speed test on both computers??
I know that some sites use bits and others bytes, so that could change your numbers up a bit (pun intended). LOL

    bits times 8 = bytes

internet speeds advertised by cable companies are always in bits (seems bigger)...

I updated firmware for the router and I turned off the McAfee.
There is no firewall running on both computers and router signal is also excellent. However, I still have same problem... :(
