I have just checked, the 6230 card has disappeared from DELL XPS configurators of all European websites,

Only N1000 card is available for DELL XPS 15 & 17  obviously without bluetooth.

The newer Intel cards like the N1000, 6200, 6230, and 6250 use 2 antenna leads, which you will surely have inside your new system. The Intel 6300 needs the 3 antenna leads, but systems (including mine) are shipping with that additional antenna lead as well so I would not be too concerned.

FYI, my L502X with the 6230 only shipped with two leads. I checked, so it's not a given that you will get 3 leads. It would be nice if we could nail down which laptop options give you the third antenna lead though.

Can i ask you where are you?
Maybe it depends on the factory used for your location.
I saw some pictures in this forum and with 6230 were always present 3-wire.

However, if XPS with N1000 has always 2 antenna leads (i hope antenna are the same of 6230), replace it by 6230 should not be a problem.

Anchorage, Alaska, USA, which could have something to do with it I guess. I read that the EU Dells seem to always have cellular modems equipped standard, perhaps that's why they always have the third antenna lead. Although, when I configured mine with a cellular modem the 6230 and BT wasn't available as an option. I wanted BT more than cellular since I've already got a usb cellular modem.

I asked location because usually U.S. Dell are slightly different from the rest of the world.

Yes, EU XPS 15 L502X are equipped with mobile broadband standard, but in every picture with 6230, I've seen there is a free cable.
I hope that there are not differences of antennas or cables between 6230 and N1000.
    I recovered image (6230 + mobile broadband 5540):

...and here is mine- a USA version with all antenna options factory installed. :D

I think when you add the TV card, they become liberal on the antennas - or I just got lucky. ;)

In a '17? Though the OP doesn't say what they're after.

I was wondering from your pictures in the other thread - is that a metal chassis or plastic that looks like cast metal?

The chassis (Dell calls it the "top cover assembly") is 100% cast metal. It anchors the LCD hindges, palm rest, and bottom casings.
